The discomfort that migraine headaches bring about can become agonizing. There are means to elude the pain. There is a preventative migraine treatment accessible to anybody. Preventing migraine headaches is as simple as your ABC’s.
1. Cut back on stress
Don’t make a habit of stressing yourself out too much. For some stress may be inevitable especially if your job requires too much of your energy. You have to find a way to at least minimize if not eliminate the stress. Deep breathing is one technique that you can use. Biofeedback is another. Stress plays an important role in the triggering of a migraine.
2. Knowledge is power
A lot of people have an indication when a migraine attack is on its way. This is called an aura. It can be a craving for a certain food, extreme tiredness, hyperactivity or even a change in mood. When these signs show up, you can take appropriate action to prevent the pain that is oncoming.
3. Avoid the triggers
The best preventative migraine treatment is the avoidance of the causes. Once you know what causes a migraine attack, stay away from it. Knowledge of what causes the occurrence makes you aware of the consequences it can bring about. It makes you keener with the selections that you make. If chocolates bring about an attack, just stop yourself.
4. Establish a sleeping pattern
The normal amount of sleep for adults is six to eight hours per day. You must follow this if you want to avoid migraines. Sleep plays a big part in eliminating migraine headaches. But you have to remember, too much and too little sleep can cause migraines so do not oversleep. Have you ever felt that after 12 hours of sleep, you still can’t get up? That is because of the lethargy that you feel. That is not a good sign. You can’t get up not because of the lack of sleep, but because of the tiredness of sleeping too much.
5. Take aerobic exercise classes
Aerobic exercises decrease the stress in your body. Plus, it releases the hormone endorphin which is also known as “the happy hormone”. Find an exercise that you like may it be swimming, cycling, jogging, or even walking. These calisthenics help you reduce fat. Obesity is another factor that causes migraines.
You are the only one who can sense the discomfort. It is up to you to select what interventions to take in preventing migraine headaches. Those listed above may not work for you, but it may work for others. Listen to what your body feels. If what you read suggested that you should avoid salt but salt is the only thing that prevents your migraine attack. Then why listen to the book? Just feel your body. Do what will work for you. Not all you read or hear will work for you.
Preventing the migraine will be easy once you know what works for you. You can have a diary of what causes, triggers, stops and prevents the migraine attack. With that, you have a reference of what to avoid and what to do. These things will come in handy later on.
