Forget splurging on expensive cosmetics and beauty products- make them right in your kitchen and for a fraction of the cost. Here we’ve put down some really cool and easy-to-make Do it Yourself (DIY) cosmetics and beauty products. Read on…
Easy Strawberry Acne Treatment: Strawberries are rich in vitamins and antioxidants that improve skin tone and make it glow. What’s more, strawberries are believed to be blessed with amazing anti-acne properties which make it the best natural treatment for acne.
Simply crush a few strawberries and apply the pulp directly onto your face, and leave it for 10-15 minutes, and then wash away.
Simple Face Scrub: Picking up a face scrub from your supermarket may seem easy, but why do it all if you can create it yourself? Most commercially available face scrubs are harsh on the skin and leave microscopic scars, which may cause your skin to become dull and dry.
Make your own face scrub using cornmeal, oatmeal, salt or sugar- all these ingredients are completely natural and remove traces of dirt, grime and dead skin cells from your skin without harming them in the process. Add around a cup of some natural moisturizer such as aloe vera pulp or papaya pulp to a handful of these scrubbing agents- mix well, and use as per requirement.
Lemon Balm Wrinkle Remover: Is it anti-ageing on your mind? Nature itself has a good number of natural substances that have excellent anti-ageing properties, and lemon balm is one of them.
Take a handful of fresh lemon balm and pour around a cup of boiling water over it. Let this solution rest for sometime so that all the therapeutic properties of the lemon balm get infused into the water. Once cool, strain this mixture and use it to wash your face everyday. This solution is believed to be an excellent remedy for wrinkles, crow’s feet and other signs of ageing.
Yummy Lip Balm: Forget those store-bought lip balms. Make one right in the comfort of your home within minutes, and with your favorite flavors.
Start by mixing together half a cup of almond oil, a quarter cup of Shea butter (or cocoa butter if you want a chocolate flavored lip balm) and a quarter cup of coconut oil in a bowl, and heat the ingredients on a slow fire until it melts and forms a uniform mixture. Now stir in a tablespoon of honey and 2 ounces of beeswax, and once the beeswax melts, take the mixture off the heat and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to it.
Before this mixture starts to cool down, pour it into the desired container and allow it to freeze for an hour in the freezer.
Natural Yogurt Bleach: If you’re dark skinned or are looking for ways to naturally whiten and lighten your skin, nothing could work better than yogurt. Fresh yogurt, when applied to the skin, not just whitens it, but also moisturizes it and makes it glow from within-perfect for those who suffer from dry and sensitive skin.
Lemon and tomatoes too, are excellent natural bleaches; however, they can be a bit harsh for those who have sensitive and very dry skin. Individuals having oily skin can use lemon juice or tomato juice instead of yogurt, and mix it with an equal amount of rosewater and apply it onto the skin for an instant natural bleach.
One of the best benefits of making your beauty products and bathroom essentials yourself is that they’re free from chemicals and additives that affect your skin, and are harmful especially when it comes to long-term use.
